Regulatory efforts have been strengthened, greatly improving the accuracy of household scales

Under the strong promotion of market regulatory authorities, the accuracy of household scales has been significantly improved, providing consumers with more reliable measurement guarantees.

The State Administration for Market Regulation has introduced a series of effective measures to address issues related to electronic pricing scales. On the one hand, the "Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Metrology in Trade Markets" have been revised to clarify the responsibilities of market organizers and operators, increase the punishment for metrological violations, and regulate the use and management of household scales from the institutional level. On the other hand, two metrological technical specifications, "Outline for Evaluation of Electronic Pricing Scale Types (Trial)" and "Verification Regulations for Electronic Pricing Scale (Trial)", have been released, focusing on improving the anti cheating technical requirements for electronic pricing scales, such as proposing the requirement of "shell opening lock machine, authorized unlocking" to prevent arbitrary disassembly and modification; Establish "unique information verification" to achieve traceability of product information; Clarify the technical requirements of "three codes and one seal", ensure the security of key information links, and effectively plug the loopholes of cheating in household scales.

Market regulatory departments in various regions have also taken active actions. For example, the Market Supervision Bureau of Bengbu City has issued multiple relevant notices this year, strengthened inspections and undercover investigations, continued to carry out inspections of electronic pricing scales, and implemented a supervision and notification mechanism to criticize areas and departments that have failed to perform their duties effectively. At the same time, a joint research team is studying the principles and testing methods of electronic scale cheating functions, strengthening technical support, and cracking down on electronic scale cheating methods. Jiangsu Province is promoting the pilot program of "one scale, one code" supervision for electronic pricing scales in multiple places, combining the QR code management label and the mandatory verification qualification label as the only "electronic ID card" for electronic pricing scales. Consumers can scan the QR code to access real-time information on electronic pricing scales, calibration, and evaluation. Regulatory authorities use big data algorithms to collect evaluation information and accurately locate "red light scales" with high suspicion frequency, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of supervision.

Through the joint efforts of the State Administration for Market Regulation and local regulatory departments, from institutional construction, technical specifications to specific regulatory measures, multiple measures have been taken to effectively crack down on illegal activities such as cheating in household scale measurement, greatly improving the accuracy of household scales, maintaining market measurement fairness, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
